Major General Krzysztof Kociuba was appointed Chief of Staff of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) in March 2025. In this role, he is responsible for the overall coordination of headquarters operations and staff functions. Prior to joining NCIA, Major General (MGEN) Kociuba was the Deputy NATO Chief Information Officer (CIO) from 2021 to 2025, leading efforts in NATO’s Digital Transformation, data exploitation, and enterprise coherence. He also chaired the NATO Information Management Authority and was instrumental in expanding the NATO CIO Office’s mandate to include cybersecurity alongside Information and Communications Technology (ICT). From 2020 to 2021, he served as Counselor Coordinator at the Polish National Security Cyberspace Centre, managing national cyber defence strategies. During this time, he was also Deputy Commander of the 9th Command Support Brigade. He was promoted to Major General in March 2021. From 2017 to 2020, MGEN Kociuba served as Deputy Chief of Communication and Information Systems (CIS) at the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces, overseeing national military communication strategies. Between 2015 and 2017, he was the CIS Plans and Projects Branch Chief (DACOS J6) at HQ Multinational Corps North-East (MNCNE), where he managed strategic communications planning. Prior to this, he was Deputy Chief of Staff at HQ Command Support Brigade MNCNE. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership roles at the 100th Signal Battalion, Command Support Brigade, MNCNE, including Deputy Battalion Commander, Chief of Logistics, and Chief of Operations (S-3). He also completed deployments as Chief of Logistics for ISAF (Afghanistan) and Deputy Commander of the Command & Support Company in SFOR (Bosnia and Herzegovina). MGEN Kociuba joined the Polish Armed Forces in 1992 and graduated from the High Military Signal School in 1996. He began his professional military career as a Signal Platoon Commander in 2nd Signal Brigade, where he earned the classification of a military specialist in Communication and Information Systems (CIS). MGEN Kociuba holds an Engineer Diploma in Telecommunications from the High Military Signal School in Zegrze, Poland, a Master’s degree in Telecommunications and Electronics from the Technical and Agricultural Academy in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in the United States. He has also completed postgraduate studies in Crisis Management and Logistics and Transportation. His military decorations include the Medal for Long Service (III class), the Medal of Merit for National Defence (I class), as well as, the Medal of the Armed Forces (I class). In addition, for his service in abroad missions, he was awarded the Veteran Star of Activities Outside the Country, NATO Medals SFOR and ISAF, as well as the Star of Afghanistan and the Military Cross of Merit with Swords by the President Republic of Poland.
