Deputy NATO Chief Information Officer for Coherence

Brigadier General Kociuba – born in October 30, 1972 – joined the Polish Armed Forces in 1992 as a student, graduated from the High Military Signal School in 1996, and started his professional military career as a Signal Platoon Commander in 2 nd Signal Brigade. At that time, he obtained the class of a military specialist in the field of Communication and Information Systems (CIS). Between the years 2000 and 2001 he served as a Company Commander in 100 Signal Battalion Command Support Brigade Multinational Corps North-East (100 SigBn CSB MNCNE). After that, he was assigned as a Chief of S-4 in 100 SigBn CSB MNCNE. Between 2003 and 2005 he served at 100 SigBn CSB MNCNE as a Chief S-3. During that time, he served 12 months as a Deputy Commander of Command and Support Company in SFOR Mission. After that, he was assigned as the Chief of Logistics in 100 SigBn CSB MNCNE. In 2007 he was posted to HQ Command Support Brigade MNC NE as a Staff Officer S-3.
Between 2007 and 2011, he served at HQ Multinational Corps North-East as a Staff Officer Supply G-4 Division. During that time, he served 7 months as a Chief of Logistics in ISAF Mission. Between 2011 and 2014, he served at 100 Sig Bn CSB MNC NE as a Deputy Battalion Commander. In 2014 he was posted at HQ Command Support Brigade MNC NE, where he served as a Deputy Chief of Staff. After that, he was assigned to HQ Multinational Corps North-East, where he served between 2015 and 2017 as a CIS Plans & Project Branch Chief/ DACOS J6 Division. During the years 2017-2019, he served at the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces as the Deputy Chief of the CIS. Most recently, he had studied in the U.S. at the National Defense University Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, which he graduated in 2020. After graduation, he was posted at the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces as the Coordinator, and between October 2020 and January 2021, he served as the Deputy Commander of the 9th Command Support Brigade of the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces. On1 February 2021 took a position at the Polish National Security Cyberspace Centre as the Councellor Coordinator. He was promoted to BG rank on 1 March 2021. Since 01 April 2021, General Kociuba has been serving as the Deputy Chief Information Officer. For the first six months of his duty within the NATO HQ, he performed the duties of the Director of the OCIO. At that time, he was in charge of implementing the Office setup. In addition, he led the effort of extending the Office mandate from Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to ICT and cybersecurity matters across the NATO Enterprise. Since July 2022, he has been serving as the Deputy NATO Chief Information Officer for Coherence being in charge of activities such as leading NATO Enterprise Digital Transformation, Data Exploitation, chairing the NATO Information Management Authority.
BG Kociuba is a graduate from the High Military Signal School in Zegrze, where he earned his Engineer Diploma in Telecommunication. He holds a Master of Telecommunications and Electronics from the Technical and Agricultural Academy in Bydgoszcz. He has also completed Postgraduate Studies in Crisis Management and a second one Logistics and Transportation at the Academy of Economy in Bydgoszcz. BG Kociuba graduated from the National Defense University Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy with a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy.
BG Kociuba is fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of Russian and German. His hobbies include IT, traveling, sports, and literature.
His honors include the Medal for Long Service (III class), the Medal of Merit for National Defence (I class), as well as, the Medal of the Armed Forces (I class). In addition, for service in abroad missions, BG Kociuba was awarded by a Veteran Star of Activities Outside the Country, NATO Medals SFOR and ISAF, as well as a Star of Afghanistan and a Military Cross of Merit with Swords by the President Republic of Poland.
