Brig. Gen. (ret.) Maciej Materka

Chairman of the Board of Frontline Foundation

An experienced special services officer and expert in national security and cybersecurity. From 2018 to 2022, he served as the Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service, responsible for protecting the Polish Armed Forces and allied troops against intelligence, economic, and cyber threats. In 2020, he was appointed as the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of National Defense for Cybersecurity.
His career spans both civilian and military special services — beginning in 1999 with the Office for State Protection and the Internal Security Agency. He co-founded the Central AntiCorruption Bureau, where he held the position of Data Protection Officer, overseeing the supervision of privacy safeguards.
He played a key role in the creation and security of the logistics hub in Jasionka, where he was responsible for counterintelligence operations, anti-terrorism measures, and efforts to prevent sabotage and subversion. From the first day of the war in Ukraine, he coordinated the protection of air, road, and rail transports, supervising the cooperation between national and allied security services.
After completing his public service career, he held senior positions within the state administration and in companies critical to Poland's national security - including Director of the Security Department at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Security Advisor to the Management Board of the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW), and Director of Security at KGHM Polska Miedź. In recognition of his contributions to strengthening transatlantic security, he was honored by the Defense Intelligence Agency and the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, receiving prestigious awards such as the DIA Director's Award and the Legion of Merit.
Since 2025, he has been serving as Chairman of the Board of the Frontline Foundation, supporting the development of systemic security solutions for Poland and its NATO and EU partners. Within the Foundation, he is responsible for strategic oversight and the advancement of initiatives in the areas of counterintelligence, digital transformation, and institutional resilience.
